Still Flying

I know the blog has been quiet for quite a while hasn't it. The good news is that I am still flying, but I haven't had as much chance to write for the last little while. So all the RC related news that's fit to print since last time.

RC Helicopters

Substantial progress in learning to fly RC helis - the chance of going home with a complete, flyable model now probably exceeds 90%. Has been a really interesting experience coming to terms with these, and I have learned a few tricks along the way. Watch this space for the learning to fly RC helis series (although I feel a little sheepish about pretending I know enough - it will be more of a "What I did and how it turned out").

Planes

Been doing plenty of flying, but not so much building or repairing (it's nice not doing so much repairing provided you aren't crashing).

Instructing

After a friend handed an inverted easy star back to me which ploughed in I've invested in a buddy cable - this has made teaching others to fly far less frightening. And have had some good success doing warbird conversions for some of the boys at Kambah.

FPV

First Person Video (the video googles that make you feel like you are in your RC aircraft) - No I'm not doing it yet, but I am following what my friend the Mongrel is up to with great interest.

Building

Am tied up with a group called the "Hurricane" Mob that are working on one of the most historically significant, and yet almost completely modelled planes of all - the Hawker Hurricane.

For those that don't know the Hurricane was the other British fighter during the Battle of Brittain, and while the Spitfire won most of the acclaim if it hadn't been for the Hurricanes the Reich might have succeeded in its goal of destroying the RAF.

Well that's it for now - I will be starting to get back into the swing of semi-regular posts so watch this space and thanks for reading.
